I'm Not Convinced Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra's Will Hit Its Release Window, But The Timing Makes Sense

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrahas a tentative release window, but when it seems like every game nowadays faces multiple delays, it seems unlikely that it will come out on time. There are other complicating factors added into this, and I'm not convinced that the game will actually appear by then. However, if it did manage to come out on time, there are a few historical reasons why it would be pretty apt for it to make it as scheduled.

We don't know much beyond a few characters confirmed for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. However, there is quite a lot of potential for this game, and we have seen both Captain America and Black Panther fighting Hydra and each other. It could be very exciting and intense, particularly given the year it takes place in.

Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra Seemingly Has A "Christmas 2025" Release Window

What We Know About The Release Window

There has been a leak that Marvel 1943 will have a Christmas 2025 release window. This hasn't been confirmed by the studio, so this has to be taken with a grain of salt. However, the leak did come from the actor playing Black Panther, Khary Payton, so there is some legitimacy to the claim. We will have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.

Marvel Rivals Wants To Do More Outside Collaborations, & I Know The Perfect Crossovers

Marvel Rivals has expressed interest in working with outside franchises for crossovers, which allows for a multitude of fantastic possibilities.

We received the first announcement for this game in 2021, and the first glimpse of the game last year at the Game Developers Conference. A Christmas release would put it in the same general window as Indiana Jones & The Great Circle last year, which proved to be a decent window for that one. However, there is also reason to think that this window is not going to be met.

Late 2025 Seems Too Soon, Considering How Little Marvel 1943 Has Shown

We Know Very Little About The Game So Far

So far, we only have that trailer from last year as far as what we know about Marvel 1943. It is still unclear how the story will pan out and how we will end up moving between characters. We know that we will be able to play as multiple characters and the overall timeframe of the game. It's not a lot of information to go off of, and it seems like the game has been quite silent to be coming out at the end of the year.

Other games that we do know are coming by the end of the year have had multiple trailers and a lot of preamble. We know a similar amount about Marvel's Wolverine, whose developer won't comment on the release date and which most people are speculating won't come out for a fair while yet. Right now, of big titles, Borderlands 4 has the latest confirmed release date in September 2025, and we have a trailer and a confirmed state of play dedicated just to that game.

Comparatively, it seems like we don't know enough and there hasn't been enough announced to expect a release by the end of the year. That being said, it has been announced since 2021, and other games have been quite coy about releasing any content far ahead of time. Grand Theft Auto 6 comes to mind as a good example of this. While it may look uncertain, there is still hope, particularly with the cast talking about it coming out this year.

A Christmas Release Would Have A Cool Connection To Marvel 1943's Story

A Good Nod To The Story & The Historic Events Of That Year

Marvel 1943 - Paris with comic Howard Stark

While it seems like the video game is based on the Flags of Our Fathers comics series where Captain America and Black Panther meet for the first time, the series mainly takes place in Wakanda while it seems like Marvel 1943 will be taking place in Paris. Paris in 1943 was not a good place to be, as were many of the places in Europe at the time. You may know that WWI had a different vibe on Christmas Day, as there was a truce for 24 hours. However, this was not the case in WWII.

Paris in 1943 was under German occupation and did not have much hope for that to change anytime soon. In fact, the Germans bombed Pas De Calais on Christmas Eve, and France was running low on hope. However, also on Christmas Eve, the Allied invasion of continental Europe was announced, meaning that thousands of soldiers were leaving their families and mobilizing to enter Europe, which also sets the stage for Captain America to enter Paris. While he is certainly a bit ahead of the main American force, it is an apt time for him to enter the city.

Marvel Rivals devs NetEase have revealed an all-new mode, Clone Rumble, hitting the title that brings absolute mayhem to the battlefield.

Both Captain America and Black Panther appear to be searching for something, and if it follows the comic, it would make the most sense if Black Panther was looking for vibranium that was stolen from Wakanda. Both of them converging on Paris at Christmastime would be incredibly apt, and Payton specifically mentioned that it would be a "Christmas thing." Any later the Allied forces would have swept past France. Any earlier and it would be a little weird for America to make it to France that quickly, even with just Captain America's team.

Even if the game itself doesn't take place at Christmas, it coming out at Christmas time would be a good nod to what was happening during the historic timeframe of the game. However, it does beg the question of what they might do if the game does have to be delayed. Would they leave it off until the next Christmas in 2026, or keep it as close to their intended release window as possible? We'll have to wait to find out on that front, but it's possible.

Whether or not the game gets delayed, I am looking forward to it. It looks like an intense Marvel experience that goes back to some of the roots of the franchise. I'm not convinced about the release window ofMarvel 1843: Rise of Hydra, but I am convinced that it will be fun when it does.
