Has Chainsaw Man Found Its Final Herald? A Devilish New Theory Thinks So
Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #195Chainsaw Man has always made it a point to keep its secrets close to the chest. Subversion and misdirection are commonly used tools by author Tatsuki Fujimoto, and his immensely popular masterpiece manga has long preyed upon its readers' expectations. Part One's Public Safety Saga built itself up to a final confrontation with the Gun Devil, only to turn around and reveal the true final villain had been next to Denji from the beginning.
In an eerily similar manner, the phantom presence of the Death Devil has loomed over the entirety of Chainsaw Man Part Two, inspiring each tragedy that befalls the series' dual protagonists. Now, the latest chapter #195, titled "Kill Me Tears", has introduced an all-new devil with those terrifyingly familiar Horseman eyes, leading many to believe the Death Devil has finally descended. However, the situation may not be so simple, and there's a chance the strongest devil in history intends to save humanity rather than destroy it.
A Mysterious Devil Has Arrived... To Save Everyone?
Chainsaw Man's Newest Devil Makes Quite the Entrance
Following a moment in which Denji attempts to comfort Asa with his own technique of avoiding every problem until they become too big to handle, Chainsaw Man's latest chapter cuts to a new student being introduced to Fami's class. The panels reveal a high-school-aged girl with a severely anxious appearance, who then claims to have arrived in order to save everyone. Her distinct eyes communicate that she is one of the four Horseman sisters, and the last to be revealed after Control, War, and Famine.
Though this would signal the Death Devil has made her entry into the series, her words don't exactly match the prophecy of destruction that foretold her arrival, and her appearance doesn't quite suit the most fearsome devil in history. While this may be another case of Fujimoto subverting readers' expectations, there may be more to the devil than her appearance or words let on. There's also a chance she isn't the Death Devil at all.
The Death Devil Isn't the Only Horseman Unaccounted For
The Control Devil Is Missing in Action
While three of the four Horseman Devils have played major roles throughout Chainsaw Man's second half, only two are currently accounted for: Famine and War. Nayuta, after helping Denji escape from Barem and an angry mob during the Chainsaw Man Church arc, was seemingly killed, and her head appeared on a platter later down the line. This means the third iteration of the Control Devil has already been born somewhere in Hell or on Earth, away from the series' focus.

If You Love Chainsaw Man, You Have a Popular '00s Anime to Thank For Its Existence
Chainsaw Man is one of the biggest new-gen shonen anime and manga, and its creator was inspired by an incredibly popular 2000s anime.
Though Chainsaw Man has been building up to the reveal of the Death Devil, it is still a month too soon for the final Horseman to arrive according to the prophecy. It's possible the mysterious devil introduced in the series' latest chapter is the latest version of Control, sent to help assist in the oncoming apocalypse. Unfortunately, for any fans who still held out hope for Nayuta's safety, this development would confirm her death. However, the new devil's appearance and demeanor differ greatly from the prior two versions of Control, leaving room for optimism.
The Death Devil May Not Be the Harbinger of Destruction After All
The Most Powerful Devil in History May Truly Want to Save Everyone
Tatsuki Fujimoto's habit of twisting at every turn makes any possible development in Chainsaw Man seem feasible. If Part Two is mimicking Part One's final villain bait and switch, then it is possible the Death Devil was never the series' main antagonist after all, and has arrived to help save everyone. This would leave one candidate to fill the role of major enemy: Yoru. It's incredibly easy to forget just how dangerous and destructive the War Devil is when she shares a body with one of the series' protagonists.

Chainsaw Man's Movie Is On the Way, And Its Arc Will Mark a Turning Point for Denji
This year, anime viewers will be delighted to see Chainsaw Man return, this time to the big screen, and it will be a massive turning point for Denji.
However, even the promotional art for Chainsaw Man hinted towards a climactic battle between Denji and Yoru, and it may soon be revealed that, once again, the final villain was just under readers' noses the entire time. The prophecy would still come true if Yoru brings forth the age of devils, so long as the Death Devil has descended to witness the destruction. The mysterious devil's arrival seems to signal the end is near for Chainsaw Man, though she may not be the one to cause it after all.
