MANILA – College of Saint Benilde defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 69-65, Sunday to keep the top spot in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Season 100 men's basketball at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
The 6-foot-6 Allen Liwag delivered 15 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in leading the Blazers to their 11th win in 13 outings and at least a playoff for a semifinals berth.
CSB will seek to formalize its spot in the Final Four against the University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
“The coaches told me to adjust, when I'm inside, they're zone, when I'm outside, man-to-man," Liwag said after the game.
Winston Ynot, fully recovered from an ankle injury sustained in the first round, came up with 14 points, including two triples. He also had four rebounds, four assists and one steal.
Ian Torres fired three triples to finish with nine points for CSB.
The top two in the Final Four will enjoy a twice-to-beat incentive.
The Blazers demolished the Generals, 77-55, during their previous meeting on Sept. 14.
Harvey Pagsanjan had 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals for EAC, which fell into a tie for fifth with Lyceum of the Philippines University at 6-7. (PNA)
